I was born and raised in Mora. As my parents moved around the state searching for work and opportunity, we lived in Vaughn, Mosquero, and other small communities that taught me the values that still guide my life today: work hard, help your neighbors, keep your word, and never forget where you came from. We didn’t have much but we had teachers who believed in us. We had communities that showed up when times were hard.

When I arrived at New Mexico State University, I had just $600 in my pocket and a dream of becoming an attorney. I worked three jobs that first semester. There were nights I was exhausted, worried about money, and wondering if I could make it. But every morning I got up and kept going. I got good grades. I found mentors who opened doors for me. And because of the opportunities this state provided, a young woman from Mora was able to build a life she once only dreamed about.

That’s why I never forgot the debt I owe New Mexico.

For the last fifteen years, I’ve run a statewide small business. As an attorney, I represented families involved with CYFD in communities across our state. I’ve sat at kitchen tables with struggling parents. I’ve seen children who needed help and caseworkers carrying impossible burdens. I know firsthand that fixing CYFD won’t take slogans. It will take courage, accountability, and bold action. And I’m ready to do that work.

Then one day, the fight became personal.

The Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire tore through the place I call home. My parents’ ranch burned. My grandmother’s ranch burned. Generations of memories, sacrifice, and hard work were suddenly at risk. Like so many New Mexicans, my family was told help was coming. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. So I went home and fought back. I stood beside survivors and took on the federal government. I am the only candidate in this race who has sued the Trump Administration on behalf of wildfire survivors. And when the headlines faded and the cameras left, I stayed. Because when New Mexicans are hurting, you don’t walk away.

You show up. I know what it means to fight for the people you love. I see it every day as a mother. My two children are the greatest blessings of my life. One of them has Down syndrome. She is joyful, resilient, and extraordinary. Yet too often, our family has had to leave New Mexico to get her the specialized care she deserves.

No parent should have to wonder whether the care their child needs exists close to home. No family facing a health crisis should feel alone. And no New Mexican should be forced to leave their state to get the care they need.

We can do better. We must do better.

We also need housing that working families can actually afford. We need pathways to homeownership. We need communities where teachers, nurses, first responders, and young families can build wealth, build roots, and build a future.

I’ve spent my career fighting for the underdog. Fighting for families. Fighting for communities that too often feel forgotten.

Now I’m ready to take that fight to Santa Fe.

Because I believe in New Mexico. I believe in our people. I believe our best days are still ahead of us. And if you’ll join me, we’ll build a New Mexico where every child has opportunity, every family has a fair shot, and no community gets left behind.
